Multan
The city of saints — Sufi shrines, blue tile work, and mango orchards.
Multan is one of the oldest cities of the subcontinent — Alexander the Great besieged it in 326 BCE. Known as Madinat-ul-Awliya (the City of Saints), it is the burial place of the Sufi masters Bahauddin Zakariya and Shah Rukn-e-Alam, and the birthplace of Multani kashi (turquoise-and-cobalt blue tile work).
