Quetta

The fruit garden of Pakistan — Baloch and Pashtun highland culture at 1,680 m.

Quetta sits in a highland bowl surrounded by the Chiltan, Takatu, Zarghun and Murdar peaks. Founded as a Kalat fortress town and expanded by the British in the 1880s, it is today the capital of Balochistan and Pakistan's fruit basket — apples, apricots, cherries, grapes, pistachios and pine nuts all come from its valleys.
